Bit of advice on Vista on F12 compared to F8

Don't hit it. Hit F8 instead which gives you the angry user
all the options of F12 plus quite a number of others.
Indeed, some of theses other options maybe worthwhile
even on an healthy machine.

Indeed, I see it as a failing of Vista and MS when the OS suggests F12
rather than
F8 when things go wrong.

F8 is the Windows standard for boot options. F12 would be a manufacturer's
recovery options. The former would be available to all Windows systems, the
latter is specific to that make of machine.
