I have read as many threads as I can find on this problem and haven't found a
cause or fix. I'm posting this in case I missed something. And also to add
what I can to the discussion.
I have upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate. A big part of my
need for the upgrade is because I want to make use of one or both of the disk
encryption and file encryption on my laptop. I would REALLY like to get this
resolved!
When I try to get the BitLocker and EFS enhancments installed I get a FATAL
80070643. Looking at the help, I verified that the OSA service was started
and configured as recommended. I have Office 2007 except for MS Project
Professional 2003. (I don't see what this would have to do with it, but
figured I better cover the documented bases before I give up. I even started
up MS-Project to be sure it did not have any problems.)
The installation makes a bunch of progress including creating a restore
point, but then fails when it looks like it was about 95% done.
I am running in an administrator account. I have 88gb free disk on a 200gb
drive. I have 2gb RAM. I have a 2ghz Intel Duo Core CPU. My laptop is a
Sony VGN-CR240E.
