BITS 2.0 instalation error on W2k SP4

Helo all,

After i try many of suggestion found on the forum i give up and post a
question...
My system is w2k with sp2. WU fail to install Update for Background
Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773). I
downloaded the update from MS download (WindowsXP-KB842773-v2-x86-enu.exe)
and it give me this message "You do not have permission to update Windows
2000.
Please contact your system administrator." . I logon as administrator on
local machine and it give me the same message. I logon as an domein
administrator and it give me the same message.
I found the log KB842773.log and the message is

3.750: 2005/09/02 09:53:47.381 (local)
3.750: j:\5bef7b5c6e6252a8fccb80a2\update\update.exe (version 5.4.15.0)
3.750: Failed To Enable SE_BACKUP_PRIVILEGE
3.750: Setup encountered an error: You do not have permission to update
Windows 2000.
Please contact your system administrator.
3.750: You do not have permission to update Windows 2000.
Please contact your system administrator.
5.141: Message displayed to the user: You do not have permission to update
Windows 2000.
Please contact your system administrator.
5.141: User Input: OK
5.141: Update.exe extended error code = 0xf004
5.141: Update.exe return code was masked to 0x643 for MSI custom action
compliance.

i have no ideea how to enable SE_BACKUP_PRIVILEGE and i need some help on
this.

Hi Robert,

See if the information in this MSKB article helps you to resolve the
problem:
