This error means the file being downloaded was corrupted during the
download. Can you please retry the download? If that does not work, please
post back.

Thanks.

Derek,
If you reply please post here. My email address is not working just now.
I, and others it seems, still need help. My machine, or me, have made about
10 attempts so far with no success. Each try results in this error code. I
have ordered the CD but don't want to wait for two months (I'm in Canada).
One of my attempts got to over 70 M before giving up and my list of programs
is littered with stuff named SP2 and I have no idea what to do with them.
Should I uninstall all of them? HELP, please.

Hi

You should not uninstall the stuff from Add/Remove Programs that has
SP2 in it's name because that is security updates that are applied to
your computer previously.

The SP2 reference is just an indication that those hotfixes will be
an integral part of SP2.

Many thanks for this info. I'll leave them for now. Presumably I could
dump them after (if) I get SP2 installed. Any suggestions as to how to
obtain SP2 without this error code? Thanks again.

Just for the record it took 19 attempts to get SP2 downloaded and installed.
All seems well except Internet Explore seems to have vanished. I have
Netscape as my default Browser. I guess I will have to reinstall Explorer.
Thanks. Be patient folks.

That's odd. It seems that your failure is coming in the middle of the
download. Can you send me the %windir%\windowsupdate.log file from your
computer? Please remove the online. portion of my e-mail address.

Thanks.
