Hi, I'm having problems with the BITS update installing (manual or via
windows update). The is the relevant section from the log:

24.735: In order to successfully complete this installation, the
following services will automatically be stopped and re-started.
24.735: Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
29.797: DoInstllation: SetupCommitFileQueue for FileQueue failed: 0xd
29.844: The data is invalid.
29.860: KB842773 installation did not complete.

Select 'OK' to undo the changes that have been made, or select
'Cancel' to quit. If you select 'Cancel', your system will be left in
a partially updated state and may not work correctly.

Any ideas? The KB842773 update shows up in "add/remove programs" but
the uninstall fails as well:

1.219:
---- PendingFileRenamOperations Before Uninstallation ------
1.219: SetAltOsLoaderPath: No section uses DirId 65701; done.
1.750: DoUninstall: SetupCommitFileQueue failed: 0xd
1.750: WinMainoUninstall failed

Thanks. -- Bud

Showing just this log obscures what version of WU you are using
and the possibility that there are other errors showing in whichever
log is in effect. If you aren't using WU v5 I think it might be worthwhile
switching to it first.

Find out where the "data" is. E.g. for WU v5 it will be somewhere
in %windir%\SoftwareDistribution for WU v4 it will be somewhere
in %SystemRoot%\System32\CatRoot. I don't know where it goes
if it is a manual download. You could use FileMon filtering on the
download package name to try to determine that. (FileMon is freeware
from SysInternals.)

Good luck
