Windows doesn't check "ram and all that" in the beginning, your BIOS does.

Loading drivers. If you want to see what it's doing, set the boot to create a boot log.

It isn't broke. However, if you want to speed up the load time, you can run
Windows 3.0 - Loads in 1-2 sec., or
Windows 3.1 - loads in 4-5 sec., or
Windows 3.11 for Workgroups - loads in 10-15 sec., or
Windows 95 - Loads in 30-45 seconds.....

That's not what I mean. I get the ram check and everything is fine. Then
black. It stays black for 30 to 40 seconds. Nothing happends. Sometimes a
whole minute just sitting in a black screen. Then the windows loading bar
comes on.

I've seen that happen when the network wasn't ready
so what you could be seeing are timeouts needed to wait for that.

Have you tried a safe mode boot without networking to see if the loading
happens any faster?

A shot in the dark... Do you have a NIC installed that you're not using?

If so, the OS will wait during boot until the DHCP times out. Setting you Ethernet adapter to a
non-routable IP address may speed up the boot process. These sites explain how to do it.
