Black screen with cursor during reformt vista/ none stop restart during bootup

Wasnt sure where to put this.

Recently i have been having some problems with my computer. I have
Gateway GM5664. When i tried to boot up the computer after being shu
down overnight it would keep restarting over and over when it reache
the microsoft trademark screen with the loading bar. I decided to tr
and reinstall the OS so i put in my gateway cd. After it did the loadin
files thing a blank screen comes up with the cursor and its stuck there
nothing happens afterwards. any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried bu
i never get any error messages not much i could do

It sounds like you have hardware failure. This is a guess based on your
description and I can't be more specific since "been having some problems
with my computer" isn't detailed enough.

If the machine is under warranty, contact Gateway tech support. If it is no
longer under warranty you can try some hardware troubleshooting yourself or
take it to a competent local tech. If you go that latter route, don't use a
BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.

well i did explain what the problems where after that sentense

but anways your right it was hardware issue. turns out the harddriv
broke down on me somehow after i plugged in a second one. i switched th
drive and vista installed just fine. although now there is a ne
problem. its a meda center edition of vista and now Whenever i star
live tv and let it play, after about 5-10 min my PC shuts down(no
restart but shuts down completely
