Black screen of death

I am installing Vista and when it reboots after installing the files (the
first step) I get a black screen with this is the lower right hand corner

Windows Vista(TM) Beta 2
Evaluation Copy. buiold 5384

I also can move the mouse pointer around.

Reboot and press F8.
Choose VGA mode and see if it boots.

Failing that, do the same but this time choose safe mode.

Do you make it to safe mode?
Yes: Disable the video card in device manager and boot into normal mode and
perhaps update the driver.

No: Boot from dvd and choose recovery options. Then choose startup repair
adn see if that helps.

Failing all this most like a clean install should be performed.

I booted into safe mode and downloaded a new driver from ATI and installed it
and it worked. Thanks for the help.
