Steve--

What type file or format are you trying to burn, and with what software, and
why aren't you verifying the burn's integrity with your burning software
when you burn it? How do you know it "burns successfully" and if it burned
successfully what are you trying to do with it that you mean "Vista will
not read it afterward." If it's not showing up in Computer, I'd check the
reg for the existence of filter values:

I just done what you said with regedit and there are NO upper and lower
filters list on my machine to delete I made 100% sure I was where it told me
to go. I am just tring to burn normal files using roxio 10 or nero 7 and
before I ever installed either program the disc free space was wrong. Thanks
for the help.

Hi steve,

Blank DVDs are marketed in the same way as hard drives where 1GB equals
1,000,000,000 bytes. However, the computer treats 1GB as equal to
1,073,741,824 bytes. So a DVD marketed as having a capacity of 4.7GB
(4,700,000,000) bytes actually has a capacity of 4,437,216,007 bytes which
equates to 4.37GB. As for your problem of not being able to read a burnt
disk, are you using disks of a well known make? Some cheaper brands are not
as reliable as the more expensive ones. Also, until you close the disk in
your burning software, the chances of being to read it are slim to nil (when
you close the disk, the list of contents is written to the disk and it is
this data that tells the computer what is on the disk).
