Blank screen after "Switch User"

If I "Switch Users" and logon to a second user, all is well. If I "Switch
User" back again, all is well. But if I "Log off" the second user, the UAC
screen does not appear - just a blank, black screen that doesn't seem to let
me do anything! Have to force power off and reboot.

Anyone else experienced this?

Forgot to mention - it's Vista Home Premium (32 bit). Also, it sometimes get
as far as wallpaper screen and "Please wait", rather than just blank screen.
But it just sits there doing nothing but frustrate me!

I'm having exactly the same problem, also Vista 32-bit Home Premium, all
the most recent hardware drivers.

Only useful thing I've found is that you can activate Windows Narrator
by pressing Win-U when the screen goes blank, and use that to be able to
switch users a few more times, and eventually the picture comes back.
Means at least I don't have to cut the power to my PC all the time.

What hardware are you running? I've got a Komplett PC with a Radeon
X1600 PCI-E graphics card, and a Samsung 930BF monitor. I've tried both
DVI and analog D-Sub connections on the monitor and still get the
problem.

This is exactly what happens on my new Dell system out of the box. All I
did was create my multiple User accounts and went straight into switching
User's and got the blue screen. You are not alone. I should have used my
free 90-day support on this one--but Vista was so buggy--I had bigger fish to
fry. I was and am still stunned that systems have problems with
logoff/restart/sleep right out of the box from top-tier system builders. I
also can't believe Microsoft doesn't extend free Vista support for 90 days
after SP1.

I'm having the exact same problem that both of you describe. Numerous blue
screens that usually occur when switching users. Dell has replaced my RAM
and video card and done a complete reinstallation of the operating system and
software, but now it is happening again. Anyone found a solution to this
problem?

This was fixed for me by replacing the graphics card, so it could have
been due to intermittently faulty memory on the card (but in my case,
the problem never resulted in a blue screen, and the PC was still
running, even when the display had gone).

I was having a similar problem...my screen would go black when switchin
users..

I have an HP 9250 Vista Home Premium 64 bit system. I just discovere
that there is an update to the nVidia drivers that fixes this problem
