Hi,

Could anyone please help me in the below problem
I had 2.5GB of RAM in HP laptop. OS - vista home premium servic
pack2.
The system works fine.
I upgraded to 4GB RAM(2*2GB). when upgraded to 4GB in bios able to se
as ~3.33GB of RAM. I am able to see microsoft progress bar also, bu
after that the screen is blank and able to hear windows logon sound bu
no display. The screen is black.
When installed only the new 2GB of RAM the system work fine. So n
problem with the new 2GB also. But with 4GB the screen is blank. I hav
nvidia GeForce 7400 graphics card. Is there any configuration need to b
done in vista before installing 4GB of RAM

It is obvious that your laptop doesn't like the RAM you bought. Either you
bought the wrong RAM for your motherboard or it is faulty. I don't know
where you bought the RAM - and you didn't mention your HP model so I can't
check for you - but Crucial.com has a memory finder tool. You can go there
and the tool will show you what memory you need, how much your motherboard
will support, and whether it needs to be matched (always a good idea
though). You can run a memory test yourself with Memtest86+ if you think you
bought the right RAM or just contact the seller's tech support.

My HP laptop specifications state that my laptop will not support 4GB of RAM
since HP apparently is concerned with the power required to support it and
therefore with the amount of heat that would be generated if it was
installed.
I run Win7 on it with 1GB of RAM without problem and with 5-7 desktop
applications running concurently.
Question: what application do you run that will actually perform better with
more then 2GB of RAM.? Is it a video editing or database management
program?
