Before blaming the update, which might have patched a security hole
in the first place, check out this Microsoft KB article:

The problem may not be Windows or even IE7 but the webpage programming
of the remote site. Remember that when updates and patches are issued
and installed, this is a "local" event. At another level, programmers
also need to update their websites to accomodate the changes.
One really cannot blame the update if it is just a few, specific sites
that are having problems. IOW, run the tests in the KB article.
If that doesn't resolve matters, then there is always the recourse of
doing manual updates, forever, just so one update does not get installed,
automatically.
