Blocked Contact display pictures

When I logged into WLM today, neither of my contacts' display pictures were
showing in the 'view contacts by display name' view. After clicking on their
contact cards a few times or opening a message window...after a while their
display pictures started to show, however my blocked contacts didn't- and
still haven't. Is this going to be a permament attrophy or will it be
rectified at some point?

It appears that Microsoft is slowly developing a vendetta against people who
choose to block some or all of their contacts for some or all of the time by
depriving them of status info (ie. online, away, busy, etc) and now their
display pictures. I really wish Microsoft would drop this stunt and come back
down to earth and keep things fun.

This is by design. If you don't have their display picture cached and try to "request" the
display picture like you're doing, Messenger won't allow it because your contact could then
see that you've blocked them. Otherwise there would be no point of blocking someone.

Hello Jon,

I'm not sure I understand. Firstly, I do have their picture cached because
up until last night whern I logged on, the display pics of my blocked
contacts were showing up. Secondly, how would the person know Ive blocked
them just by their displaypic showing up? Surely they wouldn't have known
till now- so why change it?. Also if I'm showing up as offline and unblock
them when they are online, their display picture still doesnt show up.

No worries...I got them back. Basically I unblocked them while I was
appearing offline...then I opened up a message window and clicked on the
little flash below the picture to bring up the options and waited a couple
seconds and the picture displayed...it was either that or just patience!
They're blocked again now! lol
