Lately, WindowsUpdate as well as Automatic Update on Windows XP Pro SP2
computers started to notify missing Office XP and Office 2003 updates. Is
there a way to block these updates?
First, they are erroneous since the Office updates have been applied to the
administrative installation point (these are Office Enterprise Editions) and
the Office application has been reinstalled from the admin installation
point. It seems the latest WindowsUpdate update is not performing the check
correctly. MBSA 2.0 reported the same problem while MBSA 1.2.1 reported all
Office updates had been applied. This is also a real problem for us when the
tools are not reporting consistently.
Second, since the Office Updates will be applied via the admin installation
point, there is really no point in notifying or downloading these fixes. I
do not even know if they can be installed correctly.
