Blocking programs at startup

I used the configuration utility to block a couple of programs at startup.
Now, whenever I boot, I get this message letting me know that some programs
have been blocked at startup. And it leaves a little icon in the system
tray.
Just a minor annoyance, but I want to get rid of it.

What I can't figure out how to do is to try to make my MODIFIED startup the
DEFAULT startup so that I no longer get that notification when I boot. In
other words, I never want to go back to unblocking those programs.

Does anyone know how to do that?

Oh, for the days of AUTOEXEC.bat. It was a much simpler time.

This is how I got rid of that message. Run the Program being blocked and on
the General Tab, there is a box to restart windows normal. Put a check in
that box, then restart the pc. It worked for me.

What you should really do is access the blocked program, and uncheck its
option to 'start with Windows'.. MSCONFIG should be used as a diagnostic
tool, not as a fix..

Two places to look.

First is the Startup folder in C:\Users\YOUR USER
NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Find the offending application SHORTCUT and delete it. If it an application
exe file you may want to simply move it in case you want it back

Second place is the registry. Start regedit and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
There youll see all the apps that start. Rather than delete I simple rename
the app I don't want to start from app.exe to app.exx. That way I can
easily go back and change any apps back.

Some apps may even start as a Service. You need to go to Administrative
Tools and open the Services applet. Be careful. Change the service from Auto
to disabled.

Yes, but the next time I boot, the message comes back. I want it to be gone
permanently.
I want the modified boot-up settings to become my new default boot settings.
How do I do that?
It turns out there is a similar thread going on here and someone said to
just uninstall the programs you don't want.
The thing is, I want the programs (adobe reader is one). I just don't want
it to load at startup.
What do I do?

if you have checked its options and find none that will prevent it from starting with windows.
there is a program called
autorun
or
autoruns
believe from ms. to help controlling items that auto run with windows start.

search for it at ms.
