Blu-ray Support with Windows 7 and WMC

What support is there in Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows Media Center for
Blu-ray drives.Can I play and record or do I need other applications.

Win7 MC has no support of Blue Ray drives since the license costs to provide
it with every Win7 shipment whether it was used or not were more then MS was
willing to pay.

LMAO. Sounds like Win 7 is going to be a real problem for many.

However AFAIK all PC BluRay drives are sold with an application that will
run on Win7, or Vista.

Why? Just because MS doesn't include an app for playback and record
doesn't mean you can't buy one that works. In fact, most add-on Blu-ray
drives include one that works just fine in Win 7. Remember -
"Not Supported" doesn't mean "Doesn't Work"

XP didn't support DVD natively either, you had to purchase a separate player
(or decoder anyway).

I don't recall that being a problem for anyone.

It was for awhile. Worse yet, as M$ patched and caught up, grief with
conflicting drivers and a 1/2 assed approach. When they did that I took
the time to learn Linux method of burning DVDs and still burn them this
way today.

Microsoft never patched XP to support DVD, you still have to have 3rd party
apps to play movies or burn DVD.

You are very confused, Vista was the first OS with a DVD decoder built-in
natively.
