blue on connection

Hi, probably sounds like a stupid question but what is the blue light on the
computer connection icon with Vista? Sometimes it is just the computer icon
without the blue light but I can still get on to internet. I am only
curious as I have no problems now.
I did have a problem with another network conflicting with my ISP but it
seems that it OK now. When things slow up I hover my mouse over connection
and if there are two connections I just go to network and sharing centre and
disable the other connection.
There is so much to learn about this system, I feel completely useless if
anything goes wrong, that is why these newsgroups are so valuable. I am
probably asking the wrong newsgroup as well.
Anyway thanks!

Hi,

The blue light is simply there to indicate the connection is active. If you
have the option for an animated icon enabled, it should flash when traffic
occurs.
