After installing the new updates today, I get a blue screen error
(0x0000007E), and can only boot in safe mode. Please help!

Kent-

You should be able to go into Add/Remove Programs and remove the Update. If
you can use Safe Mode With Network and get to the Internet try going to
Microsoft Updates and looking at your Update History. Click on the Green
'Successful' button for that Update, (or Red 'Failed' button, but it probably
thinks you were successful). I clicked on a link there last night trying to
solve another problem, but I remember getting to a list of error codes with
links to solutions. I don't promise yours is there, but the number seems
familiar. If you cannot reach the Internet you might have to use another
computer to look for that error code. But try removing it first.

Bob,

Thanks for the suggestions. The updates were not listed under Add/Remove
programs, so I couldn't undo them. I also could not get Windows Update to
work at all in Safe Mode.

I finally got things working by do a System Restore to last week. I tried
this several times before it mysteriously "took."

Thanks for the suggestions.

FYI:
To see updates in add/remove programs you will have to activate the hook
named shows updates on the head of the Windows.
