I didn't install any new hardware and system works well for 4 months. Right
now I'm getting blue screen " IRQL LESS OR EQUAL " when running windows live
messenger latest version which i just downloaded 2 day ago. System will work
and not getting that blue screen as long as i don't run windows live
messenger. I'm also able to chat with windows messenger without any problem.
Now, i'm not able even open windows live messenger (it will get blue screen
immediately.)

How to solve this problem?

PS. after getting that blue screen, i tried to install previous version of
windows live messenger. but still getting blue screen.

Have you installed any new drivers, I had this problem with my realtek
AC97 drivers.

No, I didn't.
Right now I changed to MSN Messenger 7.5 and everything goes fine(no blue
screen). However, I still need features of version 8.0

Greetings,

When you start Messenger, it enumerates through a number of your devices (webcams,
soundcards -- like Moo's problem). However, each version of Messenger does it differently
and you're not the first to experience this problem in 8.x. This is a problem with the
driver of a particular device though, not Messenger itself (or rather more likely the
Audio/Video portion of Messenger).

As a possible quick fix, if you have a webcam, pull it out and see if that is the culprit.

But I don't have webcam at all. Even now I'm using latest sound card
driver. Also I used to work for many month before I updated messnger to
8.0.178
Shall I remove sound card driver and reinstall driver again?

This problem is also symptomatic of bad ram. One of your ram sticks may
have failed. If you have multiple sticks pull them out one at a time and
test. Sometimes changing sticks with slots also fixes these errors. While
you have the case open clean out any dust bunnies that may have taken up
residence.

Best wishes,

Pete
