I didn't say otherwise.
everything came compatible.
Oh! I don't mean to be argumentative but something is stopping this
installation, it's either software that you have installed or software that
came pre-installed and as I mentioned, the most likely culprit would be an
alternative antivirus application that came bundled with the system. It
might possibly be some hardware or hardware driver that is the culprit but
in either case, it takes process of elimination, removing software and then,
perhaps devices, one by one until you can get the install to complete in
order to find the offending item.
NOTE: if you are saying Trend Micro PC-Cillan came with the computer...fine,
check the Trend Micro site to see if they have a later version as such
updated version might address the issue you are facing. Also, as I have
previously stated, the support section of their site may have
troubleshooting tips or other information that might lead to finding the
source of the issue.

Probably not. The worst way to try to solve a problem is by upgrading the
operating system.

It "SHOULDN'T" assuming you choose upgrade install. BUT, the operative
words here are "Should not" as opposed to "Will Not." Nothing is certain
and perfection, especially in this type of situation simply doesn't exist.
Be sure your data and anything else that cannot be replaced or easily
replaced is well backed up. Things go wrong, you are already having an
issue with a busted application install that might even effect an upgrade
and we don't know the cause of the problem. You could end up with a busted
install of the upgrade and an unbootable system which in turn would
necessitate restoring your setup to factory fresh condition and a loss of
everything that wasn't originally there at first boot out of the box.
