Make sure all your drivers are up to date:

http://ati.amd.com for your video card
http://www.creativelabs.com for your sound card

Hi - It's "VIPRT.SYS (the letter "I" and not the number "1") and it's a VIA
Storage Port driver. This means it belongs to your motherboard.

If you look up the STOP 0x00000001 error here:

http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

you'll see that that error means either bad drivers or bad/incompatible
hardware. Looking further at this link:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms818748.aspx

basically says the same thing. We don't know whether you have an OEM machine
(Dell, HP, Sony, etc.) or if this is a home-built/generic box. We also
don't know if you got the machine with Vista preinstalled, you upgraded
from XP, or if you clean-installed Vista onto bare metal yourself. So here
are some general suggestions:

1. In any case, try updating the motherboard (chipset) drivers. If you
upgraded from XP or installed Vista yourself and didn't install the chipset
drivers, this is probably why you're getting the error and you need to do
that. See the general drivers information below for how to do that.

2. If updating the drivers doesn't help, if this is an OEM machine contact
their tech support because it's their hardware and it should work.

3. If this is a home-built/generic box, make sure your motherboard is
compatible with Vista. You would do that by checking with the motherboard
mftr.'s website and/or tech support.

4. Did the machine ever work correctly? If yes, then what changed between
the time things worked and the time they didn't?

General drivers information - Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get
them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer
(HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model
machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor or System Information for Windows.

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html - Belarc Advisor
http://www.gtopala.com/ - System Information for Windows

If you need more help, then please post back with the missing information I
mentioned above.
