I downloaded Windows service pack 2 from fileplanet.com I
was wondering if it was legitimate or not. Since I go
dorectly to the main update site still no sp2. I'm asking
if anyone can check this out becasue I don't want to
install it just yet. Thanks for your time

If it doesn't come from a microsoft web site don't download it and don't
install it.

There are NO authorized places outside Microsoft to get Service Packs.
If they are redirecting to Microsoft, that is OK.
But if they have SP-2 and are redistributing SP-2, not good.
Go to the legitimate source referred to on #1 on this link and get a
good copy:

Early one morning over a week ago I went to CNET and lo and behold they
had the SP2 featured. I downloaded and installed it and have had no
problems at all.

Later that day I went back to CNET and the SP2 was gone!!

I've saw something later that Microsoft told sites to remove it. They
thought they were helping Microsoft deal with the deluge of people
downloading it but Microsoft didn't appreciate it I reckon.

But I seem to have a genuine SP2 and it is recognized as such at the
Windows update site and everything works as advertised.
