Bookmarks have disappeared

Well I just opened up my Internet Explorer for the first time today and all
my bookmarks are gone! I have had many of them for years. Does anyone know
what might have happened? I checked the recycle bin and there not there.
HELP! Thanks

If you do Start Button and click on your Username, does the Favorites folder
that appears have favorites in it?

Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type: Favorites
The Favorites folder icon should then appear at the top of the Start Menu.
