\boot\bcd + 0x000000f error when starting up after windows update

Hello all,

I have two laptops with a problem that arises every time windows update
installs an update. Even uninstalling an update causes this. One of the
laptops is a Macbook with Vista as the only OS, the other one is a
Fujitsu-Siemens laptop.

The Windows Boot Manager complains that it cannot read the boot
configuration data.

File: \boot\BCD
Status: 0x000000f

I can get this fixed using the vista dvd repair option whics takes care of
the problem in 5 minutes, but the problem reappears when updates are
installed / uninstalled.

Repairing the OS is not the problem, the problem is that next time I install
an update the problem reappears.

So this did not solve my issue.
