ok ive called every company known to this stupid piece of software. "we dont
support that entirely" and its dumb. SO i was reccomended to come here. i
have a mac, and i want to install windows so i can use my $200 worth of
games, and every single time, no matter what disk i use, i encounter the same
problem. When the imac tries to boot into the windows install CD, the screen
goes black. unlike similar cases, there is no blinking cursor, and the cd
spins for about 15-30 seconds until it stops. Ive done everything from
resetting the PRAM and removing/replacing the partition. Also, ive tried
multiple cds, including my friends retail one. i dont know if this is
hardware-related or what, but i do have a 512mb NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS, which
might be the problem... idk. help please? even apple or microsoft dont know
the answer...

I googled for "Installing windows on a mac, bios upgrade needed" wondering
along the lines of a bios upgrade needed. Please note I'm not a techy, just
a windows user.

I found this 2yr old discussion
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=191743. Have you installed the
firmware mentioned? If the forums still running maybe you might find some
help there as it seems to be tailored to your problem?

it is microsoft's territory." who kidding who?

1. Do all updates in OS X. You must be running Leopard. Boot Camp isn't
supported in Tiger.

2. Run Boot Camp Assistant. For the school laptop program I make the Windows
partition 40GB for Vista. YMMV.

3. Put the Vista DVD in and in Boot Camp Assistant click "Start
Installation".

4. The Mac will restart. Hold down the Option key as the computer is
starting. This will give you the choice of booting from the Mac hard drive
or Windows. Choose Windows.

5. Once in Vista's installation routine, format the Boot Camp partition -
and *only* the Boot Camp partition! - NTFS.
