Boot To Desktop

How do I set up Vista to allow me to boot straight to the desktop, bypassing
the need to click on a user icon that does not have any password set?
Does this solution (you are providing) also apply when there are multiple
user icons with no passwords?

Please skip the discussion of using or not using a password.
Thanks.

How could the solution apply when there are multiple users? Going
directly to the Desktop means automatically logging onto one particular
user account. If the other users are accounts that you don't often use,
then that would make sense. You can then bypass the automatic logon by
holding down Shift when Windows is starting if you need to get into a
one of the other accounts.

The instructions at this link work for both XP and Vista:

Configure Windows to Automatically Login (MVP Ramesh) -

1. Control Panel>User Accounts anf Family Safety> User Account> change your
password.

2. Have a think about what you wrote re multiple users
If there are multiple users, it can't go straight to the desktop!

You have to click on SOMEBODY'S icon, lol.
