yeah i am really fed up with burning an image to a DVD and installing a
OS. each time they come up with a new flavour of OS or different OS,
need to waste a DVD to intall the OS. can if any one tell me how to boo
from a pendrive and install OS. it would be helpful.. thanks

The 20 cents a DVD costs is prohibitive?

First, your computer must support booting from a flash memory device - most
newer systems do. Second, the image you want to transfer to the flash
memory device must support using this kind of device instead of a CD/DVD -
that's the hard part since most image files are stored with information and
boot files for a CD/DVD device.

1) you should be able to install to a virtual machine with nothing more
than the ISO disk image.

2) I did precisely that with a Debian install on my wife's eeepc netbook
using the info from the Debian eeepc wiki.
