Booting problem after SP2 update

Has anyone else found that their computer is refusing to boot up correctly
since installing the SP2 update? When I switch on my machine (cold start),
the boot-up process does the memory checks and halts. What should happen
next is the 'Detecting IDE drives' bit. Pressing the Reset button re-starts
the boot-up process, which then runs swimmingly. Once the system is up and
running, everything seems to be working as usual. Warm restarts work fine -
it's just starting up from cold that's problematical. Can anyone offer
suggestions as to possible causes/cures for this?

In case it helps, here's some onfo about my system:-
Pentium 4, 2.4GHz, 224Mb RAM
Windows XP Home, SP2
Zone Alarm 4.52 Firewall (Windows firewall disabled)
AVG Free antivirus (up to date)
