Hi Guys,

First of all I sorry if this is not the appropriate place to ask my question but I thought this board for Windows so... Ok my question is that my companies just acquired a new office and want to setup that office as branch office connected to our main office. I have SBS 2008 server at my main office and I am planning to install Server 2008 at branch office. I have edge 55e connected with CISCO ADSL router. All I want to do is to sync data and AD information with branch office server. Somebody suggested me that I should have the same hardware on branch office as well to connect with Main office server. How do I setup a VPN connection between 2 sites, Can users on branch site access resources on the main server? How do I resolve the issue of DNS. I have tried to do this in demo lap with only one watchguard the result is that I can connect from my branch office server with my main office server but I can’t see any computers or server in network neighborhood. I can access the server resources only via IP address. Moreover the IP address of the server 2 which is connected with server 1 has changes its on different subnet. How can I setup DFS if both the server doesn’t see each other? What equipments do I need to achieve this....

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Thanks

Vikram

Hi Vikram:

You are in the right place for SBS related questions. Welcome.

Watchguard 1 at Location 1, Watchguard 2 at location 2. The tunnell is between
the two Watchguards. Watchguard support will help you set this up, works
very well. They do not all have to be the same model. Edge10 ro Edge20,
depending on the number of users and the functionality you need/want will
work fine.

If the bandwidth between offices is sufficient, in the Cable or FIOS or T1
class, you may not need the server at the remote office. Further, this does
not scale well. If you consider that there might ever be a second or third
remote office, it may make more sense to put a Terminal Server (RemoteDestopServices)
in the main office and use RDP over RWW to the SBS office.
