For the past few days I've been having a problem with my browser closing down
suddenly when I try to visit certain sites. I don't get an error message so
I don't know what's causing it. It's been happening at two sites in
particular, both of which I visit on a fairly regular basis. I've never had
a problem at either site before. For instance, I can visit Yahoo without any
problems. I can even sign in and check my email but whenever I try to play a
game the browser closes.

The problem seemed to start when I installed the latest update. I've since
removed KB891711 as was suggested in a few other threads. That didn't solve
the problem. I have Windows 98. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry you are hitting this issue, and I certainly understand why you
wrote to this newsgroup over this problem, as the cause seemed to be Windows
Update. However, the search, recognition, download, and installation of
Windows updates does seem to be working on your computer at present.

Since that is the case, the relevant operating system newsgroups would
likely be a better source of help in your particular issue. Please repost
your question to one of the following newsgroups, and you will likely find
more experience there:

microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion
microsoft.public.win98.internet
microsoft.public.win98.internet.browser
microsoft.public.win98.internet.windows_update
microsoft.public.win98.performance
