Browser lags, and computer revs on one website

One website I have gone to makes my computer rev and the browser lags,
driving me to distraction. I tried it again, yesterday, and it did that
again - no other websites do that.

I know you want my CPU specifics, but where to find all of them? My IE is
7.0.5730.7.13; using XP Pro; have all updates current, "cleaning" scans done
twice a week; using Security Essentials (do I need to keep AdAware on??);
Windows Firewall is on; computer has 50% available. I use a wireless network
(which I think is working!!). ;-))

One caveat, when I experienced this at this website a year ago, I made sure
to use a "duster" (can) on my cpu, and it evidenced no change. What am I
doing, if anything, that could be changed?

Thank you all.

Oh, it must be a secret web site and why you can't mention it here for
anyone else to look at.

Unimportant. Even a lowly old 8088 can do the web.

That must be one hell of a powerful duster can to reach the server for the
unidentified web site that causes the CPU consumption. And even more
powerful yet that its air flow could alter the HTML code within a web page.

The *site* probably has a problem with bad script code that gets stuck in a
loop or is constantly updating itself with new content. Can't tell,
however, since it is a secret web site.

Bye.

It would be helpful if you were to post a link to this Web site.

From your other post, this is the page:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andrew..._b_401967.html

FWIW, it didn't take long here. It has a lot of ads, but I didn't see
anything glaringly bad.

Then again...

Entering that URL here:

http://validator.w3.org/

Returns this:

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...Inline&group=0

282 errors and 93 warnings!!!

That's gotta be a factor. :-)

I don't use Security Essentials. Running that might be a factor, too.

I would uninstall AdAware; there might be a conflict.

Also...

1. What kind of Internet connection do you have: broadband or dial-up?

2. How fast is your CPU?

3. How much RAM do you have?

4. What Service Pack level do you have?

If you right-click My Computer and select Properties, you will get the
answers to #2, #3, and #4.

mid December.

Whoever designed that site did a horrible job. That might be one of the
factors in your problems with the page. Stated another way: If the
Webmaster corrected the mistakes, that page might load more quickly for
you.

If not the cause, it could be a contributing factor. That is, perhaps if
I installed it, I too would notice a problem with that one particular
Web page. Note that I said it "might" be a factor. It might just as well
not be a factor.

Look again. You should see RAM and SP level.

Here is an example:

http://www.yorktech.edu/wireless/Win...rmine%20SP.htm

In that example, the PC has SP1 (Service Pack 1).

Also, it has 256MB of RAM.
