Hi. GrampaSmurf.,

There is a tutorial here that may help

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/17...uninstall.html

SP1 is pretty important, if it came already on your dvd, you may like
to try a repair install , or a clean install

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88...sta.html?ltr=R

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/11...ion-vista.html

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/68...ade-vista.html

Hope this helps

Did you just install the latest Vista updates, by any chance? I could be
having a similar problem?

I just got a ton of problems after downloading and installing the latest
Vista updates 2 days ago and had to go through everythnig with my ISP tech
support. Now I'm reading several people have big problems with it.

My Norton, the whole package, Antivirus/Antispyware/etc, vanished!! GONE!!
The whole thing!!

My Windows Defender vanished!! Gone!!

My Safari takes forever to start up. Over 8 minutes!!

Drag and drop files to and from folders CRASH my machine everytime I try!!

My chat app doesn't even register with Vista anymore and can't be loaded
up!! Vista says it doesn't recognize it!!

After my ISP tech support walked me through their Norton scan site my Norton
and Defender reappeared; my drag and drop works great, and fast; My Safari
is still terribly slow but not as much; I need to reinstall my chat.

I think it was because of something incomplete or, most likely, virus prone
in the Vista upgrade that they've possibly fixed by now. My Safari is
supposed to, or so I'm told, relearn everything after each Vista upgrade,
but get progressively faster. It's usually lightning fast!! It's been slow
after the past upgrades and after the first install, but not as much as
this, but it does get faster and faster with use so far. This time it's so
slow it's like it's frozen.

Talk now to your ISP tech support and call Microsoft on their toll-free
phone line. They've got answers somewhere.
