Buffer causing crash?

Lately, (running Vista Home Premium 32 bit) my system crashes,
requiring a cold boot, whenever I am viewing videos, or running
the Zune software. It seems to be a case of a buffer overflowing.
Is there some way that I can increase a buffer size that might have
a bearing on this problem?

Hi Dave,

No, there's no way for you to increase the buffer size. It's controlled and
defined by the software. Buffer overflows are usually the result of using
software bits not designed for a given operating system, or if those files
are corrupt. As the happens with media, I'd suspect an installed codec is
the source of the problem. Some codec packages, like klite, are known to
cause these issues. Removing them is often required to correct the issue.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for your response.
I have Klite installed for quite a while and this
problem started a few months ago.
I will uninstall it and see if that helps.
Since I plan on upgrading to Win7 Ultimate
(courtesy of my "House Party"!), this may be a
moot point...
