It appears in a pop-up window. Normally it says the program cannot continue
due to the error, and it appears at various times. Most times, I can switch
to the program window (Explorer or Media Center) and continue, while the
error alerts continue to pop up periodically and pile up behind the program.
Usually, I can continue to work while the alerts stack up, but if I accept
the alert, the program shuts down, usually along with the taskbar and
everything else. Then the taskbar, etc. usually reappears after a few
minutes, sometimes minus a few icons.
