aero is disabled if you open 25 instances of Windows Photo Gallery

reproduction steps:
1. download this zip file "infocard_icon.zip" from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
2. open it using the Vista built-in zip and go to "images" subfolder
3. select all 25 images, right click on them and choose "open"
.... and 25 instances of Windows Photo Gallery will be opened (very slowly
due zip bug) and Aero will be disabled! Although you close them, Aero remains
disabled, until you reboot.
Why Aero is disabled with only 25 windows opened (Windows Photo Gallery)?
Why Aero is not re-enabled automatically?

Because the graphics card has run out of memory, you idiot. It's not a bug.

Why would you want to open 25 instances of Photo Gallery in the first place?

It's a performance bug. In fact my graphics card has 256MB of memory and
it's able to open a lot of Windows.

Just tested your "bug".

Get a better box.

Its not all graphics mem.
When I had 26 open...they were chewing up 787M system RAM

It'll be the lack of graphics memory that causes Aero to switch off though.
The amount of windows that will have to be open to make this happen will
vary from system to system, depending on things like amount of VRAM, screen
resolution, colour depth, and probably some other things too.

Quote from Carey Frisch (MVP)
Your video card and Windows Vista are designed to share system RAM, but only
when you need to do so. For instance, if you are running an application
(such as a graphics intensive game) that requires more memory than that
which
is available on your video card, the system kicks in to allow it to use
general computer RAM. However, when your graphics usage has no need for
system RAM, it's available for other uses. It's a very good technology.
