Hi Morgan/Patti
I've recently had the same problem with a Connexant fax/modem driver update
on a newly-purchased computer. There does not appear to be any information
on this error code on the Microsoft website.
Several weeks ago, I was updating an identical computer (a Compaq laptop)
for my daughter, and was able to download and install the fax/modem driver
update, but not the sound card driver update. This time, it's the other way
around.
Disabling Anti-virus, etc. seems to have no effect. Both computers had
WinXP Home SP2 pre-installed and I updated to all critical updates since
early Feb. 2005.
Like Patti, I ultimately downladed the driver directly (in my case, from the
Hp/Compaq website). However, it took 2-3 attempts to get it to install.
Don't know what the real issue was.
I would like to see more on this error, and what's really causing the
problem(s).
