Buring CD's in Vista - does not finalize

I have been trying to burn cds on wmp 11 for a month now. I follow all of
the steps. Hit start burn. Burning seems to happen. When the last song
burns, the disc is supposed to be automatically ejected, but it does not. In
fact, i have been having to shut down the computer after waiting for a while
to get the disk out. Then when i review the disk, nothing appears to be
there.
Can anyone help me out? Bottom line, the disc does not seem to be
finalizing itself and therefore wont eject itself.

Nero works fine. I'd use Nero 6 or 7. their version 8 , besides being too
expensive, is also too bloated, and slow.

I picked up Nero at Office Depot bundled with a DVD drive for what you'd expect
to pay for Nero alone.
I think Nero is still doing that. You can never have too many drives.
