Burning CDs in Vista

My daughter has an Acer with Vista. I used the burners that were installed
with Vista and burned all my data onto a CD. My computer with Win2000Pro,
will not recognize either one. I tried to install MY HP burner since Vista
seems to recognize every driver in the universe. Software EasyCD was
installed just fine. Vista will not recognize the burner.

My question is: How can I make Win2000 recognize either of these CDs or do I
have to use the Vista programs in a different way? I am perplexed! Thanks!

download the a free program for cd dvd burning that is compatible with vista

www.cdburnerxp.se

Unless you have some free version of NERO sometimes supplied on CD with a
new computer.

The problem is that Vista has a system called MASTERED that is not
compatible with older systems, Thats why its better to use a 3rd party
burner program

see here for more info on the problem if you click on the MASTERED word in
green a pop up explains why this is so

er... actually the live way is less compatible, and the mastered more
compatible.. in any case I would NEVER use the built in burner program of
Vista..

its too limited in my opinion

more info

Why are there two different ways to format a disc?

You can choose between the Live File System and Mastered formats when
creating a new recordable disc because each of these formats is used for a
different purpose. The default choice is Live File System because it is a
more convenient way to create a disc. When you use a Live File System disc,
files are copied to the disc right away. When you use the Mastered format,
files are stored in a "staging area" until you decide to burn the disc.
When you use the Live File System format with rewriteable discs such as
CD-RW and DVD-RW, you can also erase unwanted files from a disc to recover
space, which is not possible with Mastered discs. On the other hand,
Mastered discs are more compatible with older computers, previous versions
of Windows, and other devices such as CD and DVD players. For more
information, see Which CD or DVD format should I use?

Try making a copy of the data in the Public Documents folder before burning
it to CD. Your files may be 'owned data'

Hello my dear negative and loser friend...

Let me explain further..

this is a newsgroup and some people come here to ask questions.
Some people in here actually care, and don't mind spending a few seconds in
giving a good answer.
A good answer is giving a solution along with the understanding why
something did not work.
I gave both from memory, and added detail from a Microsoft site.

I don't see why you don't like this. Is it not a function of this newsgroup
to help people using various
references, or is it strange and alien to you that someone would actually
take the time and effort to help someone?

You should try it some time... (instead of handing around replying to anyone
you don't like with insults)

The thing is, that even though I know more stuff than most people in here...
its not enough for me. I am in constant self education training and growth.

You should try that too some time...

You just cant understand why someone who doesn't like vista, and bashes it,
would actually want to help vista users.
Not only that, it makes you furious because you want to put me in a troll
category but, I cant fit in there...

so this perplexes you... and irritates you.. and your anger and hate grows
because you cant get rid of me.. LOL

and what will your reply to this post be? A snip, a name calling, and an
insult...

standard things for franky poo

You are kidding right? Are you saying Vista can't natively burn a portable
CD or DVD yet?
