burning an ISO on DVD

It ends up, unfortunately, my backup of my Vista partition is basically, useless. You don't want to know the details they are far too ugly.

So I have an ISO image of Visual Studio. How can I best friend that onto a DVD?

Right clicking it and trying a send to DVD does not appear to be usable. What freebie software is best for burning this ISO image? I had great ISO burning software, alas it was on my trashed disc...

I ended up finding -- 15 minutes ago -- relational MSDN Visual Studio 2005 installation DVD. So I stuck that in my DVD drive and then set up. Everything was going well until you system asked me -- demanded -- that I insert my "Visual Studio Professional CD ENU1".

It never asked that before, and looking through all of my MSDN disks/DVDs -- I cannot find it anywhere. What the heck is it anyway? And is anybody have either copy they can send me (by e-mail -- thank goodness for DSL!) Or a link to a copy so I can burn a copy and satisfy Visual Studio' s creeping.

Naturally, this has to happen on the weekend when MSDN Tech Support is closed. Sigh...

Hi Ross,

I doubt many folks would want to *email* a 600MB ISO image! :-) But If you
have an MSDN Subscription, you can downlaod any MSDN CDs or DVDs yourself,
from http://msdn.microsoft.com. Just click on the Subscriber Downloads link,
then enter your MSDN logon id and password. The images are downloaded as ISO
files.

Not sure about the tech support phone line, but the MSDN Online Concierge is
up and running over the weekend - I just checked a moment ago, they appear
to be online and active. Maybe the concierge guys can help out.

Which MSDN DVD are you using to install VS2005? Is it one of the yellow
ones, with Disc Number 3070 on the front label? Or a different one? I mainly
ask because I've installed VS2005 on many machines from MSDN media, but
never seen the error you mention. It's a bit unusual.

By the way: what is a "relational" installation DVD? :-) I thought databases
were relational; not DVDs ... :-)

There is no plain http URL, as such. It's a javascript thing. After you log
in to MSDN with your Microsoft Passport, there is a list of items on the
right-hand side of the screen:

Ah-ha! Okay, that explains it :-)) Are you using NaturallySpeaking 9? If so
how do you find it? (I have version 8, haven't upgraded to 9 yet).

If you don't mind me asking ... are you vision-impaired, and if so, are you
also using a screen reader, like Jaws? Or are you using NaturallySpeaking
because of limited mobility, but your vision is fine?

I'm not handicapped myself; but I've done some work with accessibility and
software for handicapped folks ... so I've got a special interest in this
area.

I'll play around with VS2005 setup and see if I can generate the same error
you get; I'll post back here is I get results.

DeepBurner will write ISO files. There's a free version that will do that.
There are other free burners to which I'm sure others here will testify.

Well, I clicked on the "Online Concierge Chat", but note chat started when I hit the "Chat Now" button. I turned off the pop-up blocker. No window popped up. I even downloaded and used Firefox to try to chat. No luck in Mudville: still no chat. Sigh.
