Ok, I just burned the iso file to a dvd, but when i look at the file, it is
still an iso file. Did I do something wrong? the file that is on the cd does
nothing besides open my cd burning program (sonic record now), and thats it.
a tutorial or somehting would be nice

I used Sonic and got the same result. Use IMGBurn instead. It's free.

If it is a DVD-R and not RW, then you don't have to format. I just put a
blank DVD-R in the burner and clicked Burn on the IMGBurn interface.

Save the DVD. Forget you ever heard of Vista until its released in stores.
If you are having this much trouble burning a disc image file. There is no
way in heck you will be able to deal with a beta test OS. Yeah, it might
seem harsh but I'd hate to see you come back in 2 days asking how to get
your current system back because you can't deal with how Vista is acting.
Save yourself the trouble.

Perhaps, but like the OP, I asked for assistance in burning the DVD because
I did not get the correct results with a specific burning program. I was
directed to another burning program, and the .iso extracted properly.

I have no idea if the OP is installing Vista on a separate partition like I
did, but to jump to the conclusion you did simply because of a DVD burning
problem is indeed, jumping to a conclusion.
