Ok, why microsoft is doing it like that is beyond my understanding.

I wanna burn a dvd file that is, lets say on my D drive. Instead of taking
the files from the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directly from the D: then create a
Image on the C: and then burn it (wich should take about 4.35 Gig of space...
Noo nooo Super Vista create a temp burning folder on my C: under
user\%username%\local\windows\temp and copy all the files from D: to this
path and then create an image for burning wich take a hole *****8.7 GIG*****.
WHY plz tell me WHY cant the file just stay on the D: then create the image
on the c: and take half space... really i dont understand that.

I know i can change the temp folder to another location but still, it take
some time to copy files to the temp and i dont see the reason for that. with
only an image you could save twice the time and twice the space... so my
suggestion.... GET RID OF THAT BURNING TEMP FOLDER FEATURE PLZZ. Thx

I regret to inform you that practically EVERY piece of software that masters
CDs and DVDs creates a temporary file during processing that matches the
size of the data to be burned to the disc. I've used several of them and
they all do it.

We have here a learning experience:

There is only one track on a CD (or DVD) - it's actually a giant spiral. The
start of that track includes "header" information for the stuff that's on
the CD. The contents of the entire CD has to be created so that the
"header"information can be perfected, and this "header" has to be created
before the CD can be written (since it comes first).

This is simply the way it has to be and always has been by any CD/DVD
burning software; Microsoft, Nero, or anybody.

You guys dont understand... i know you need to create an IMage to burn on a
cd dvd... wich take the space of the files you wanna burn... for exemple if i
wanna burn, lets say 45meg of mp3, the software need to create an image on
45meg with the files in it... and that im cool with that. But thats not the
only thing MS burner do... it copie first ALL the files to C: in a temp
folder. (45meg) then create an image (another 45meg) for a total of 90meg on
the c before it start burning. It could create only the image on the C: (45)
and leave the origianl files on the D: and save half the space on the C: its
easy to understand and to do... there is ABSOLUTLY NO NEED to copy the files
first on the C: drive and then start doing the image to then burn it on a
cd/dvd

thats what i dont understand... that extra copy on the c: take time and
space and it have NO NEED AT ALL.

True. However, most don't need to make two copies (one, a copy of the
original data, and two, the disc image / ISO)

You can get more with a kind word and a 2x4 than just a kind word.
