Burning Widescreen DVDs

I read some of the other posts for this issue but am finding them
unhelpful, I hope someone has some new info that may help.

After burning a DVD of a widescreen movie and finding it had been
"squished" into reg TV size, I found the options and changed it to 16:9
( I had figured the program would have been smart enough to go by the
file itself). I then burned another copy, which also ended up getting
squished into regular TV size So now I have wasted two DVDs and so
far I have not found anywhere else in the program to modify the aspect
ratio. Another problem I am having is with the title screen that is
being created. In the preview it shows stills from the movie in the
spaces provided, however, when the finished product is viewed, the areas
that had images in them are only solid green blocks. I am afraid to try
again as I just can't afoord to waste more discs and frankly it's
getting a little frustrating waiting around almost two hours for certain
disappointment.

Any help will be most appreciated, thank you.

K

It would be helpful to know what software you're using to burn your DVDs.

Not knowing actually what you're trying to achieve, it's a bit hard to
advise.
