Have the same problem (or at least had) after I installed SP1 for vist
Home Premium.
What I found out was that there was a left over service from m
previous ATI card that was using up to 40% of my CPU.
First I asked Microsoft advice and they told me that it is a video car
driver problem. But their sollution? As always: reinstall the lates
drivers.
Of course that doesn't help anything.
What you should try is: run services.msc
search for the service: Ati External Event Utility service
If you can find it... then right click on it and choose options.
There you choose for startuptype: Disabled.
Reboot your machine and see if it is helping.
Also click ctrl-alt-del and choose windows taskmanager.
Choose the 4th tabpage (Performance). Before ATI service is disable
you'll see a high cpu-usage. After disabling it should be low. Whe
not working it should be 1 or 0...
Normally... (if you have the same issue, that could be a sollution.)
Maybe you never used ATI... Maybe you can't find it...
Then feel free to contact me and I'll investigate.
