I agree. Installed the updates on three different Vista machines.
All three showed improvement in file transfers and an overall
general improvement. Things seem to be a bit snappier.

Looking forward to SP1.

I have also found that the new file move/copy api is a significant
improvement however there are occasions when the api will still hang at the
"Calculating time remaining..." screen. This is when copying within a disk,
between hard drives on different machines and copying to CD/DVD. I have
determined that the problem is reliably produced whenever the api tries to
copy a Quicktime file. I have the latest version of Quicktime 7.2. Is this a
known bug and is there a fix?

I noticed a general zipping up, but ironically, by a strange quirk of fate,
file transfer was the one area where I didn't notice any improvement. Mind
you mine was pretty zippy to start with. Either that or the data folders
have just got bigger, which was probably more likely the case.

I'm only using 1gb RAM so maybe it is more apparent
on a low RAM system?

Possibly. 2GB here, of which 31% (approx 635 MB) is in use as we speak.
Perhaps with larger file transfers more RAM is required. Not really tested
that theory, but sounds plausible.

After the install this morning, Boot to login screen is about 6 - 10 seconds
on average slower, and login screen to usable cursor is about 6 seconds
faster, so that's a wash.

Otherwise, I perceive little or no difference.

Have had no "stability" problems with this Dell XPS 1210 for the past two
weeks, since sorting out the startup app(s) which were causing problems
(logitech quickcam software, the biggest offender).

AAMOF, thought seriously about invoking the "if it ain't broke ..." rule,
just could not stand the prosperity of the known, over the excitement of the
unknown.

So far, no excitement in either direction... and that's probably a plus.

To be honest I didn't really install it for the sake of speed gain here
either, but mainly for the sake of the other errors catalogued on the first
2 links the OP gave, should those situtations ever arise, and also probably
as a general bug-fixing exercise.

Still has a huge defect. If your app writes often to the title bar your displayis going to shortly be a disaster.
