Do you have a restore point you could use?
That would be the easiest fix I imagine.
Otherwise you could try using ProcMon to find out which registry values
are being tested, look at their values, then figure out how they got set that way
or just zap them the way you want to try them differently, etc.
That diagnostic would be even more useful if you have an otherwise identical
machine which is working the way you want it to. E.g. then you could compare
the two traces for essential differences, even if you didn't really know what
either one was saying. ; }
