Hi Folks,

I am REALLY stuck, so your help is greatly appreciated.

After my Windows MCE 2004 computer automatically updated teh critical update
KB890859, it stated asking for a password. I do not have a password set up
for my system, but escape or Enter did not work. Upon rebooting, it gave the
Blue screen with the following message:

STOP: C000021a (Fatal System Error) The windows logon process system process
terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xC0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down.

Trying to start in a Safe mode, but it gives the same blue screen and error.

Trying to boot to last known configuration gives the same blue screen and
error.

Tried using Windows repair console, but it asks for an admin password, which
I do not have as I never set it up in the first place.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Try a blank password? Press Delete, then Enter.

Even if the latest update is the cause of this symptom
you are likely to get better assistance in a newsgroup
which specializes in your OS, especially for the recovery
phase. Once the update is installed complaining about
its symptoms in here seems akin to running down the street
chasing a delivery van hoping the driver can answer some
questions about your new appliance. <eg>

Meanwhile here's a search for you:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...05d59de72e87be

(Leonard Severt [MSFT] explains it is "a users mode problem")
The context makes me think he meant to write "mod" since he
refers to custom software and other hooks.

BTW other hits from similar searches make it look as if you are on the
right track with your repair console attempt.

Good luck
