I had the same issues, To finally get the update installed (after getting
your computer back to where it'll come up and get on the internet), I
manually downloaded the update (KB925902) from MS, saved it to my hard drive,
then restarted the computer in Safe Mode (F8 during the boot). Then Start
Button -> Run, and Browse to the saved update file and run it.
Once this was done everything was back to normal.
