Hello,

I have the following: gigabit wired desktop w/Vista premium and 360, 100mb
old desktop with xp, laptop w/ xp and laptop w/Vista basic, also using a
wga310n linksys wireless/gigabit router. All is fine w/ everything but Vista
laptop. The xp laptop is connecting to the router using wireless-g at
adequate speed. The Vista laptop, however, connects to the network just fine
with wireless-g, but it runs verrrry slow. Ran a speedtest on laptops and xp
one is in broadband range, but the Vista one is only in dialup range.

Please Help!!

if you turn off the auto tuning, does that improve the speed? This how to
may help.

I unchecked IPv6. The rest of that stuff is beyond my skill level, I think.
I wasted two hours of my life yesterday on the phone with Dell tech support.
The tech tried to tell me that 200kbps was normal with wireless-g, while my
xp rig benches 10x that. Very frustrating. I am just not sure about doing
all that registry editing and stuff.

Thanks

As the how to mention, you can try to disable auto tuning by using this
command: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled .

Robert,

That actually did make a marked improvement. Speedtest went from 200kbs to
1000kps. It is still markedly slower than my xp system, but it is much
better. Any other ideas?

Thanks a lot

ps. I am hoping that sp1 will soon be available and it may make a
difference as well. I am guessing there are some drivers that currently
won't work because update does not give me an option to upgrade to sp1 on
this laptop(I upgraded my desktop with no problems about a month ago)
