Calendar launch problem

Windows 7 Pro Sp1/Live Mail 2009

New to Live Mail and attempting to use the Calendar
for the first time.

When I click on the Calendar icon, I get the message:

"There was a problem switching folders, possibly
because the folder was busy. Please wait a moment
and try again."

Several more attempts produce the same message.
The "abbreviated" calendar does appear in the upper
left corner of the display and a selection option to add
a "New Event", but there's no response to any of the
options offered.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bill Stanton

Using the default, which presumably is local to my computer.
I don't want my calendar online.

If using a Live ID, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend deleting the local
calendar folder (which includes its database) and let WLM rebuild a new one
from the online data.

Since your not using a Live ID thus the default calendar, deleting the
local database may rectify your problem but you will lose any data entered
in a previous calendar, thus delete at your own risk.

Ensure WLM is closed prior to deletion (since your using 2009, it might be
appropriate to check Task Manager and ensure its closed)

Thanks for your reply. And, like I indicated at the outset of this thread,
this is the first time I've attempted to us the WLM calendar. That being
the case, there's nothing to loose.

So, if I've "closed" WLM, where do I go and what do I pick to delete
the default calendar?

Thanks again,
Bill

Just a thought....................

When I installed "Live", I only installed "Mail". Does that
affect the use of Calendar?

Apparently not, as I installed Live Messenger as I'd done on the
other systems where calendar works okay, but still does not
work on my machine.

Live Messenger requires use of a Live ID.
Messenger does not have a calendar compenent, though the Live ID used for
WLMsgr when used to signon to Windows Live services in WLM will sync with
the online calendar, build/update the local Live ID database (stored on the
user's hard drive)

Delete the local calendar database (its found in your profile in a Windows
Live Mail folder in a subfolder called Calendars)
- use Windows Search to find it, ensure you enable Explorer to show hidden,
system, protected files. Do not delete the Calendars folder, only the
folders and files within it.

Fyi..proceed at your own risk, and remember your using 2009 thus ymmv.

Hi Winston,

c:\Users\Bill\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Calendars\
had only one file. I deleted that file, having closed and confirmed that
WLM was in fact closed.

Following the deletion, I opened WLM and switched to Calendars. I got
the same message as I posted originally in this thread and was presented
with one calendar entitled "Bill's Local Calendar". Now, a couple of days
ago in my attempts to solve this caper, I in fact used the "Add Calendar"
option to add a calendar with exactly that name. It would seem that the
"Bill's Local Calendar" was created somewhere other than the Calendars
folder I found in my Windows profile.

I have no clue as to what is happening.

Thanks,
Bill
