Calendar sync hangs in WLM 2009 (14.0.8117.0416)

It happens from time to time that the sync of calendar hangs in WLM 2009
(14.0.8117.0416).
Once it occurs WLM will never receive and send new mails any more until I
manually terminate the sync process.
When searching "hang sync calender wlm" on Google I found the same problems
reported by others but no solutions except not to login LiveID.
Any comments about this bug?

No fixes for WLM 2009. Code frozen over a year ago.

What does manually terminate the sync process mean. Explain the exact
steps.

Deletion of the calendar database is the only solution. (fyi. non Msft AV
and firewalls can contribute or cause the problem)
- If a Live ID calendar, deletion of the local Live ID calendar database
will not wipe the online calender which will be used to rebuild the local
next Live ID sign on to Live services in WLM (with the same Live ID)
- if not a Live ID calendar, deletion will wipe out the local calendar and
all data. There is no backup tool included in WLM.

If deletion doesn't work, your out of luck...problems in WLM2009 won't be
fixed.

Thank you for the reply.

"What does manually terminate the sync process mean"
Means to click the bottom-right of WLM window to open the status window with
task and error list and a progress bar of receiving/send/sync.
It will show that the last task, i.e. calendar sync, just hangs there
forever. Now click "Stop"...

Probably it's not the problem of WLM, but due to some code change of live
calendar service, since the problem did not exist years ago.
Not AV or firewall issue either I think, since the sync does not hang every
time. But once it happens, it last forever until I click the stop button.

It's a pity that there's no way to switch off the live calendar sync
function without logging off the liveID...
Now I have created an empty new calendar in the live calendar service as my
main calendar, and deleted the old one.
I'll see what will happen in the next days.

Certainly not as common in WLM2011 for both calendars (default offline and
Live ID calendars).
- The code to sync the calendar was improved in WLM 2011. WLM 2009 last
version (QFE3) did not update that code, thus wysiwyg is basically WLM 2009
initial release in 2008.

Fyi..I've had 3 Live ID calendars in use since WLM 2011 initial release and
two later builds (QFE2 and now QFE3)...and tested the public beta and 5
private betas prior to initial release...It's been a long time since I've
seen a calendar sync failure and nothing since private betas.

For those using WLM 2009 -only two options are available
1. Repair (via Add-Remove/Windows Live Essentials)
2. Deletion of the calendar database and allow the database to be rebuilt
- unfortunately if not using a Live ID then (2) would also delete all data
present in the local calendar database with the rebuilt one returning to
ground zero stage (no data).

I do not use local calendar.
Could you please specify how to delete the calendar database and rebuilt?

Logging on to calendar.live.com, deleting the original calendar and
creating a replacement is unlikely to have any effect unless data on the
original calendar was corrupt and that data is not accessible in the web UI
(not WLM).

Delete the local Live ID database.
Windows Explorer -> Tools/Folder Options/View:
- Ensure Show hidden fles and folders is enabled and Hide protected
operating system files is disabled

Close WLM
Navigate in Windows Explorer to
C:\Documents and Settings\<windows logon name>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Calendars

Delete
a. DBStore
(the local offline no Live ID calendar database)
b. All Live ID folders
(they will show up with the Live ID email address)

Shutdown > Restart > Open WLM and logon with your Live ID (the same Live ID
you used to access the web UI when you removed the original and created a
replacement calendar)

If deletion of the local Live ID calendar database does not rectify the
problem, consider contacting Live Support
- fyi - support for the Live ID calendar is in the Hotmail forum
http://windowslivehelp.com/forums.aspx?productid=1

Optionally you might also post in the WL Mail area regarding
synchronization problems.

If unresolvable by the Solution Center personnel, you may have to live with
the problem.

Good luck.
